a lil’ late, but here’s a great writeup describing The Man Who Laughs.  which also inspired a great piece On Luthor.  I’ve never been into the DC books.  but, i don’t know if this could be done for any of the Marvel supervillains.  still, I’ll keep my eyes open for the DOOM and Magneto writeups, just in case.

this is exactly why i thought Ledger’s SCARY FUCKIN’ CLOWN joker was perfect. that image of the smiling crowbar wielding joker is the one that i know the best. i first discovered it while flippin’ through a book at Fat Jack’s Comic Crypt in junior high. i’ve never forgotten it. through coke-white faced Nicholson, various cartoon versions and the various plush and plastic incarnations.

no sound or thought bubbles on those panels.  just the smile. that scary fuckin’ clown. that’s the joker i know and love.

seriously, i need a pair.

since youth, all of us of a darker persuasion have believed destro was black.  whether because of the voice actor, them thick ass lips on the mask or because of his fantastic pimp hat and cane.

now i’m not sure of the ethnicity of the destro in the following video, but i do know he honors the mask and doesn’t appear to have the same traits of bitchassness that the other guy does.

whether or not it’s real is of no consequence. it is, however, an obvious advertisement. check the profile of the dude who put it up, his start date/number of videos and lil’ mamba shoutin’ out the name of the not available shoe. typically, such transparent garbation would get a huge thumbs down, but, i do adore the shoe… i’ve peeped the shoe from various sources and want to pick one up.

why do these “high end” companies insist on putting white midsoles on these not-really kinda sorta sneakers?

i’ve wanted to get a few more pairs of these wears ever since my new gig allowed me to show up to work in whatever i damn well pleased on my feets. my boss wears overly techie shoes like he has to climb a mountain in our parking lot to make it to his car.

i hit up MajorDC w/the intent to pick up a pair of creative rec’s specifically because they didn’t have the shitty white midsole. unfortunately, these bitches were way too fuckin’ thin for my powerful manly tootsies.

maybe there’s something i don’t understand. i’m sure there is, so, why do so many of them choose to go with a white midsole? especially when it’s not complementary to the model? is it a cost thing? somebody help me…

the original goal was a typical “big image w/ sound file” post including a link to Sims’ blog. i even had a nice little song picked out and that would be that.

which, was sorta perfect, because i had already decided to start remixing the picture myself.

for years, I have been saying that hip-hop is the cornerstone of our cut’n'paste culture. this “project” has showed me how things have advanced and how everyone is borrowing from everyone. Ctrl+C -> Ctrl+V, indeed.

as we continue along this jurnee, we will see the true glory of samples, allusions, remixes, refixes, slight winks/nudges and everything that incorporates how my brain works.
